6 FAQs About Salt Society’s Hands-On Classes

If you know Salt Society primarily for our online courses and tutorials, it might surprise you to learn that we also offer a variety of in-person, hands-on workshops. These courses offer students the ability to learn directly from a Salt Society, ask questions (and receive answers!), and actually practice the skills that they are learning.

Below, we’ve gathered some of the most frequently asked questions about our in-person education so that you have all of the information you need to decide whether or not attending a class would make sense for you.

FAQs About Our Hands-On Classes

1. Where do Salt Society’s hands-on classes take place?

All of our hands on classes take place in the Salt Society classroom, which is located in the historic town of Cheshire, Connecticut, right next door to the SALT Salon.

The facility is approximately a one-hour drive from Bradley International Airport, a 30-minute drive from Oxford Airport, and a two-hour drive from both JFK and LaGuardia Airports. 

2. What is your return policy for hands-on classes?

Full payment for class must be made upon class reservation. All class fees are non-refundable. 

However, if you purchase a ticket and are then unable to attend the class, the ticket is transferable to another artist. All transfers are subject to approval, and requests must be made one week prior to the original class start date. Pricing changes may apply, depending on the class. We do not allow more than one transfer per artist per class. Please send all transfer requests to support@saltsocietyeducation.com

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule classes as necessary. If a class is canceled, you will receive a full refund. If we reschedule a class or move its location and you are no longer able to attend, you will receive a full refund. 

We reserve the right to change our cancellation and refund policy at any time. 

3. What does a typical hands-on class look like in terms of schedule?

Most of our hands-on classes are split into two parts: A look-and-learn portion where attendees watch as a Salt Society instructor performs a technique, and a hands-on portion where students receive one-on-one technical training.

The classroom is fitted with TV and camera capabilities so that everyone in attendance gets an up-close viewing of the coloring techniques during the watch-and-learn portion of the class. 

While the Salt Society classroom may hold up to 40 attendees during the look-and-learn portion of the class, the hands-on portion of each class is limited to a maximum of 10 students each. This is to ensure that each student is able to receive one-on-one attention from the instructor for an optimal learning experience. 

It’s our mission to make the class a memorable learning experience for every student who attends. That’s why our classes are laid back and informal, and why we encourage our students to ask as many questions as they have throughout the class. 

4. What is provided with each class? 

All attendees receive:

  • Head sheets
      • Swag bags from our sponsors (like RedKen and Neuma!) filled with more than $50 worth of product
      • An Uber voucher to help you cover some of the travel expenses to and from our classroom (must purchase tickets at least one week prior to the scheduled due date in order to qualify)
  • A mimosa bar waiting to greet you at the start of the class
  • Discounted hotel rates at one of our three partner hotels (details below)

    Students taking part in the hands-on portion of the class also receive lunch from a local restaurant—Cheshire Pizza & Ale—which partnered with us to create an exclusive menu that is only available for SALT Society events. This menu includes everything from appetizers and signature salads to wraps and hand-crafted pizzas. Gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarian options are always available as well. 

    5. Do we need to bring our own tools, or will they be provided?

    No, students attending the hands-on portion of the class do not need to bring their own tools. All tools required for the hands-on education will be provided, including:

    • Mannequins
    • Tripods
    • Product
    • Tools

    6. Is lodging available nearby?

    We understand that not all of our students are local—in fact, most of our students travel substantial distances to attend our classes! That is why we partnered with three local hotels to offer our students discounted stays when they travel to attend one of our classes:

    • The Residence Inn Marriott offers attendees discounted rate of $119 per night
    • The Homewood Suites Hilton offers attendees 15% off their stay
    • The DoubleTree by Hilton offers attendees a special discounted rate as well.

    All three of these hotels are within a 10-20 minute drive of the Salt Society classroom. Upon buying a ticket for a class, you will receive details as to the best way to go about booking your stay to receive your discount.

    There are many other venues available in the area to meet any and all preferences.
